What do SPU and SKU mean
The need to clarify the two concepts of SPU and SKU
SPU = standard product unit (SPU) is the smallest unit of commodity information aggregation. It is a set of reusable and easy to retrieve standardized information, which describes the characteristics of a product.
In the process of electronic commodity information, the characteristics of goods can be described by multiple “attribute value pairs”. Products with identical “attribute value pairs” can be abstracted into a SPU.
On the other hand, these “attribute value pairs” are solidified in SPU and gradually standardized.
The product information structure based on SPU can realize rich applications, such as the integration of commodity information and information, reviews, and other spus.
For example, iPhone x can determine that a product is a SPU.
SKU = stock keeping unit.
For e-commerce:
- SKU refers to a product, each of which has a SKU, which is convenient for e-commerce brand identification.
- If a product is polychromatic, there are multiple SKUs. For example, if a garment has red, white and blue, the SKU codes are different. If they are the same, there will be confusion and wrong delivery.
For example: iPhone x 64g silver is a SKU.
